Kwaza Primary School
Hilltop has a Computer Centre at Kwaza Primary for the last 5 years with students attending classes as a part of the schools curriculum. Currently there are 62 students enrolled from grade 1 to grade 7 who are using the River Deep Programme from San Francisco, California for Maths and English, e-learning. The children gain basic computer literacy skills and the students also rely on the computer room, as a research centre using Wikipedia.
Kwaza’s local computer class trainer is Nosiviwe Tolom a resident of Dimbaza. The centre and school over the past years has generally had a foriegn volunteer assisting in the centre. The students and the trainer, share an exchange programme of skills, culture and friendship. At this time Kwaza does not have a volunteer stationed there. Volunteers and the community benefit from this relationship. There are many positive outcomes for the volunteer, the trainer, school and parents of the area. The community and students widely appreciate this programme.
You can see and find out more on Hilltop Empowerment Centres Face Book Page about our trainer Nosiviwe and the centre.
